All goes well up here in Port Loring. The weather has actually been wonderful over the weekend, so hopefully that will stick around for a while. Though I should loathe them as I am sure to have to deal with them at some point, the leaves look amazing. Vibrant would be an understatement.
Otherwise, I’m actually headed back down south on the 20th. On the way down, the plan is to visit the newest addition to the clan in Barrie who by that point will have been born. So I’m going to be an uncle. Crazy.
Anyways, I’ll be down for several days as there is a big poker tournament being held here over that stretch of days. It is tempting to toss my hat into that ring, but with a niece/nephew to see, and a significant other to flee home to, it is not really anywhere close to tempting enough. Plus, it wouldn’t be fair to the rest playing. Ahem.
The one obvious downside to being up here is the lack of television. To some, I’m sure this would be too much to grasp. For myself, not so much. Outside of sports (apparently the NHL season has started up, though I wouldn’t know…. I should start grabbing radio feeds online), and the ever-depressing spectacle that is the news, I really don’t watch much television at all, and to be honest don’t feel as though I’m missing much. There have been a few shows over the years that I’ve enjoyed (X-Files for one) but for the most part I find the majority of programming to be horrible. Comedy isn’t funny. Drama is cliched. Since the X-Files, television has almost been watered down.
Alas, there came a show. A show called Lost.
Cue: | :lost: |
Lost is both the most entertaining and gripping show I’ve ever experienced. It is most certainly well thought out, intelligent, and very well written. Thankfully I’ve managed to find a way to watch it while I’m up here in the far north of Ontario. Holly has been heading over to my parents to watch it in my absence, and as anyone who watches the show knows, it is best watched with fellow viewers. If somebody who dislikes t.v. as much as I do (and I believe Holly would fall into the same category) can look past their hate for network programming and thoroughly enjoy a show, that I think should say a lot.
Oh and the dose of reality for the day : for anybody who somehow hasn’t gotten wind of such things yet, North Korea has completed a nuclear test. Good times are ahead I’m sure :v:.
